Sometimes scripture stings. In fact, sometimes it feels like it jumps out of the pages of our Bible and punches us in the the stomach. However, we can’t allow our flesh and pride to let us steer away from the uncomfortable. Being a Christian isn’t easy. It shouldn’t be. You are going to be convicted. You are going to be wrong. You are going to have to do things that you don’t always want to do. Being a Christian is about God – not self.
Loving your enemies
Praying for your enemies
Putting other people first
Giving the money that you earned to someone else
Not going to that party
Getting up early to spend time in prayer
Giving up your dream
Not getting your way
Being a Christian isn’t glamorous; being a Christian is the purest, rawest form of love shown through selfless acts of service expecting nothing in return.
“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”
-2 Corinthians 4:16-18
